Thomaston – Kenneth C. Berry, 58, died Friday April 18, 1986, at a Rockport hospital. He was born in Thorndike, July 22 1927, son of Clayton and Luella (Ward) Berry.
He was educated in Unity schools and upon graduation entered the U. S. Navy, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He had been a resident of Thomaston for the past four years, previously living in Pittsfield. For 22 years, he had been plant superintendent at the Ethan Allen Corp of Burnham. At the time of his death, he was employed as production manager for Imagineering Weatherend Estate Furniture in Rockland. He was former chairman of the Waldo County Democratic Committee and was a former member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Pittsfield.
His brother, George died on March 19, 1986, and his brother Raymond, died on April 5, 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Achsia (Basford) Berry of Thomaston; one son, Joseph Berry of Burnham; one step-son, Duane Chase of Warren; two daughters, Elaine Sheehy of Portland and Martha Berry of Pittsfield; two step-daughters, Nancy Sidelinger of Pittsfield and Denice Ingraham of Anson; one brother, John of Littleton, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Donald Shorey Funeral Chapel in Pittsfield. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7-8. Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
