Obituary: Emma Carolyn Anderson Elzinga
Our loving mom, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend passed away April 9th, 2003. She has finally been released from this world to be reunited with her sweetheart Jack.
She married Jack on May 8th, 1944 for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She devoted a lifetime of service to her husband, children and family. She contributed many unselfish years mothering 88 foster children in her home. She fulfilled many positions in the LDS Church including two full-time LDS missions. She had a tremendous passion for the outdoors, expressed in her garden of roses and the countless hours on her farm in Lehi.
Carolyn leaves behind her children: Kathy Gurr (Gene) Springville, UT; Jan Elzinga SLC, UT; Fawn Shafer (Brent) Sandy, UT; Jeff Elzinga (Becky) Kennewick, WA; Laurie Feinga (Joe) San Diego, CA; and grandchildren: Jared, Aaron, Damion, Joshua, Danielle, Jennifer, Brian, Jon, Dan, Eric, Steven, Justin, Melissa, Tina, Tika, Lani; and seven great-grandchildren. Surviving sisters are: Enid Nordgren, ID; Lily Van Dyke, Salt Lake City; Betty Rossiter, CA. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, one brother, three sisters.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the Salt Lake Home, Heritage Place and Hospice for all the years of loving care. Mom, you have suffered quietly for so many years. You are free now to fly with your guardian angels to a place where you will not suffer as you have suffered here; you will continue to grow, accumulating knowledge. You can now have the grand celebration of meeting your honey once again. You are truly loved and will be missed each and every day.
WE LOVE YOU.
Funeral services will be Monday April 14, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake Rose Park Stake Center, 760 N. 1200 W (east side). Viewing will be prior to services at 9:45 a.m. Interment at the Lake Hills Cemetery, 10055 S. State Street, Sandy. Funeral Directors, Russon Brothers.
