She met her husband, the late Francis Ellis "Frank" Wilson when she was teaching at Windsor School where he was Principal. They married in July of 1889. Prior to her job at Windsor, Caroline had taught at Locust, now Cummins School. Caroline and Frank became the parents of seven children: Marie Louisa, who predeceased her mother; Frances, Catherine, Jacob, Ethel, Frank, and Henry Lynd. She was also stepmother to Hammond, Mabel, and Harold, Frank's children from his previous marriage to the late Maria McWilliams Wilson. A sister, Miss Eveline Burnet, also survived as did eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Caroline died in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, KY in September, 1946, at the age of 88 from having fractured her hip in a fall. She had been living with her son, Frank.
