Funeral Rites For Abner Elkin Fant

The funeral of Abner Elkin Fant, one of the most prominent and beloved men of this county, who died Sunday afternoon, was held Monday afternoon with Masonic honors, at Woodland with Rev. N D Guerry officiating.

Mr. Fant has suffered from ill health for several months from which complications recently developed, and through last week his death was momentarily expected.

Mr. Fant was 59 years of age, and was the son of one of the pioneer families of this county. He was united in marriage February 22, 1898, to Miss Margaret Beckham of Woodland, and to this union were born seven children, who survive him.

Mrs. Fant joined the Methodist Church at Sparta at the age of ten, and later moved his membership to Woodland, where he has faithfully served his church in many ways. He was a member of the W O W, and also of the Masonic lodge, at one time being Worshipful Master at Woodland. Throughout his life he always enjoyed looking at the bright side and helping his fellowmen. The love with which he was held was beautifully manifested by the expressions of those who attended the funeral Monday afternoon.
