He was united in marriage to Nina B. Hopkins at Great Bend, Kansas. To this union were born 11 children, 9 of whom are still living. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sons; Morel and Melzar. Survivors include his wife, Nina of the home; five sisters and five brothers; four sons, Amos of Martel, Iowa, Melvin and Richard, both of Lincoln; Bob of Kansas City, Missouri; five daughters; Esther Allen, Nevada, Iowa; Edith Swartz, Kansas City, Missouri; Genevieve Dickerson, Lincoln; Lucile Turk, Duncanville, Texas; and Eva Nordgren, St. Paul, Minnesota. There are 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren beside other relatives and a host of friends. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park, where he awaits the call of the Life-giver on the day of the resurrection of the just at our Lord's glorious appearing.
Services were held at the Piedmont Park Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Richard Eugene Hobbs, James Gearhart, Marlyn Schwartz, Monte Morris, Charles Henklemann, and Mitchell Chunestudy.
