Married Mae Elizabeth Watkins April 12, 1952. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Carroll Thomason and John Rush Thomason; three sisters, Grace Cooley, Hazel Bronson and Lucille Sams.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Thomason, two sons, Terry Thomason and wife Sherry; Frank Thomason and wife May Lynn; one daughter Felica Hardage and husband Terry; four grandsons, Jeremy Thomason and wife, Erin; Jacob Thomason, Joshua Thomason and Joseph Thomason and wife, Haley; one grandaughter, Courtney Dixon; two great-grandsons, Hayden and Jackson Thomason; two step-grandsons, Brian and wife Bridget and Rodney Hardage; one step-great grandaughter, Alexis Hardage and two more great grandchildren on the way; two brothers, Charles and wife Judy Thomason, Cecil and wife Shirley Thomason; two sisters, Jean Cansler and husband Bob, and Edith Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
Herschel was a master electrician. He retired after 33 years of service from the Patterson plant of Reynolds Metal Company. He was in the Arkansas National Guard, serving at Fort Polk, LA. and was a member of the DeRoche Missionary Baptist Church.
