Horace Levi Cain, Jr. was the third of four children born to Keziah Belle Thompson and Horace "Harry" Levi Cain in Butler, PA. He died in Sewickley, PA at the age of 64 of a blood clot to the lung after undergoing a prostate operation in 1964.

He completed 11 years of schooling in the Butler schools, and this is where he met his wife, Ruth Buchanan. He and Ruth were married in 1918, and from this marriage were born two sons (Jack and Gordon), and two daughters (Gloria and Judy).

His occupation was that of an insurance agent for Prudential for many years, and was eventually transferred to the Sewickley, Allegheny County, PA area. The last fourteen of his working years were as a steel worker at Spangs Steel Company in Ambridge, Beaver County, PA. He took this job mainly because of the set hours so he could care for his elderly ailing parents who lived with him.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Coraopolis, PA, a member of the Sewickley Methodist Church and worked for the Ordinance Department during World War II. He tinkered in real estate and once owned a restaurant and an apartment building on the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA.

He had a great personality and a great gift of gab....perfect qualifications for an insurance agent. He was also well known for his beautiful penmanship.

He had a favorite song he used to sing: "My Wild Irish Rose," and on his birthday he would always sing: "Happy Birthday to Me," He was a lot of fun, and I dearly loved him and miss him still!
