C M Walker, 77, of 206 Campbell Avenue died at his home Sunday after a long illness. He had made his home in Fayetteville for the past 33 years. He was an insurance representative for 40 years and was an active representative of the Eastern North Carolina Baptist Association.
Funeral services will be held today at the Snyder Memorial Baptist Church at 3 PM. The Rev. James C Cammack, Rev. Louis S Gaines and th Rev. Grady McKeathan will conduct the services. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the LaFayette Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Burgess Walker; four sons, Baxter, W. Henry, and Vick R, all of Fayetteville and James of Swansboro; one daughter, Mrs Clyde Dunsmore of Winston-Salem; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; eight sisters, Mrs HT Jolly of Roanoke Rapids, Mrs WH Hudson of Rockingham, Mrs Olin C Garrel of Thomasville, Mrs HB Glosson of Burlington, Mrs JA Adams of Graham, Mrs Jess McNeill of Norfolk Virginia, Mrs EG Herring and Mrs Willie McNeill both of Wilmington; and two brothers, Rufus of Lexington and Teed of Burlington.
Mr Walker's nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Warren Bible Class of Snyder Memorial Baptist church, the home office staff of his insurance company and the deacons of the Snyder Memorial Baptist Church.
