“Helen M. White Taken By Death
Mrs. Helen Madison White, who was born in Napa 73 years ago, and who spent her entire lifetime in this county, died last night in a local rest home following an illness of three weeks duration.
Mrs. White was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Madison, who were married in Napa in 1868.
She attended the Napa Business College, and after completing her education was employed as a teacher in the local schools until her marriage.
Following her marriage she and Wirt P[endergast] White, the widower, went to Wooden Valley in 1905 to make the family home.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. White is survived by four children, Robert W. White of Concord, William White and Mrs. Mildred Holmes, both of Napa; and Mrs. Evangeline Oberti of Eureka.
She was the sister of Mrs. Annie Murray and Mrs. Agnes Muller, both of Napa; Mrs. Isabelle Griggs of Oakland, and Mrs. Amy Johnson of Burlingame.
Nine grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will take place Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the chapel of the Cuff and Pierce Funeral Service, thence to St. John’s Catholic Church, where a requiem mass will be celebrated, commencing at 10 a.m.
The rosary will be recited at the chapel at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Burial will be made in Tulocay Cemetery.” END
