“Agnes L. Muller Taken By Death

Death claimed a member of one of Napa’s oldest families last evening [June 27] with the pass of Mrs. Agnes L. Muller [nee Agnes Lorretta Madison]. She passed away quietly in her sleep at the family home at 1607 A St. where she had resided for the past 40 years.

Mrs. Muller was born in Napa 82 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Madison who came to the community over a century ago. Her husband, the late Herman Muller, was a printer and publisher in Napa and for many years foreman of the Register composing department. He passed away in 1945.

Surviving Mrs. Muller are her two sons, Elwin A. Muller of Napa and Carlton T. Muller of San Francisco. A daughter, Ruth M. Leal, was taken by death in 1946.

She was the sister of Mrs. Isabel Griggs of San Francisco, Mrs. Amy Johnston of Burlingame and the late Mrs. Annie Murray and Mrs. Wirt White of Napa.

The funeral will take place Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at chapel of Cuff and Pierce Funeral Service, thence to St. John’s Catholic Church where a Requiem Mass will be offered for the repose of her soul commencing at 9:30. There will be a recitation of the Rosary on Friday evening at eight o’clock at the funeral chapel. Interment will be in Tulocay Cemetery.” END

“Church Rites Held For Mrs. Muller

Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes L. Muller were held this morning from the chapel of Cuff and Pierce, with a requiem high mass at St. John’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Alvin P. Wagner officiated.

Mrs. Muller, a member of one of Napa’s oldest families, passed away quietly in her sleep at the family home Wednesday.

Her husband, the late Herman Muller, was a printer and publisher here and for many years was foreman of The Register composing department. He died in 1945. She was the mother of Elwyn Muller of Napa and Carlton Muller of San Francisco.

The solemn ceremonies were followed by the recital of a requiem high mass at St. John’s Catholic Church.

Pall-bearers were Leo Wallace, Jack Johnson, Herbert Williams, Frank Murray, Justin Murray, and Emmitt Murray.

Interment was in Tulocay Cemetery.” END
