CHILDRESS - James R. "Pete" Jones, 75, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, in Tell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Robertson and the Rev. Roger Deerinwater officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born Oct. 1, 1933, to Robert Eugene and Jessie King Jones, their 10th child. He married Nancy Norris on Dec. 20, 1953.
Survivors include his wife of Tell; a daughter, Deborah Canada of Wellington; a son, Richie Jones of Childress; a brother, Rayford Jones of Tell; two sisters, LaJuana Thaten and Dot Bennet, both of Childress; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109; or Childress Regional Medical Center Hospice, P.O. Box 1030, Childress, TX 79201.
