John Dewey Canon married Willie Ruth Fulton on August 1, 1953.

John D. Canon, 81, of Baytown, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Nassau Bay.

He was born February 24, 1927 in Goose Creek to his late parents, Monroe D. Canon and Notie Irene Alexander Canon. He was a lifelong resident of the Baytown area, retired Field Maintenance Operator from Exxon after 38 years of service, member of the Central Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John enjoyed hunting and fishing. Music was a passion and he especially loved playing his harmonica. He shared this talent by playing at church and school activities as well as local nursing homes.

Mr. Canon was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Milton E. Canon and Gerald Canon. Surviv-ors include his wife, Willie Ruth Canon of Baytown; son, Lynn Ross Canon and his wife Pati of Mont Belvieu; daughter, Linda LaBorde and her husband David of League City; brothers, Lanny Canon and his wife Edrie Mae of Magnolia and Glen H. Canon and his wife Rose of Waller; grandchildren, Staci Howell and Matt Howell of Houston and Zach Canon and Dyana Canon of Mont Belvieu and numerous nieces and nephews.
