Monroe Canon's birth certificate states that he was born in Perryman, Liberty County, Texas. Perryman was a community in northern Liberty County in the vicinity of Moss Hill (north of the towns of Hardin and Liberty).
He married Notie Irene "Norene" Alexander on July 6, 1924, in Polk County, Tx.
They had five sons and one daughter that lived to adulthood. Their oldest daughter, Nelva Laverne, died at birth.

Services for former Tomball resident Monroe D. Canon, 83, of Trinity will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Klein Funeral Home Chapel in Tomball with the Rev. Luther Dillard officiating.
Canon died Wednesday in a Houston hospital.
He is survived by five sons, John D. Canon and Mickie Canon, both of Baytown, Gerald Canon of Houston, Lanny Canon of Trinity, and Glen Canon of Waller; and a daughter, Geraldine Smart of Katy.
Thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Burial will be in the Resthaven Cemetery near Houston.
Services are under the direction of McWilliams-Canon Funeral Home in Waller.
