PATSY LOU HOUSE, age 58, of DeSoto, TX, was born at Bolivar, MO on September 8, 1935 and died on April 27, 1994 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX. Throughout her life, her character and sweet spirit reflected the spirit of Jesus Christ, her Savior, and were a profound witness and inspiration to virtually all who knew her. And now, Jesus has called her home, to live eternally in Heaven with Him.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse William House of Bolivar; her brothers, Donald Lee and Deryll William of Bolivar; and her sister, Willodean (House) Gullet, wife of Leon Estle Gullet of St. Clair, MO. She is survived by her mother, Lela Veneta (Breshears) House of Bolivar; her husband, Harold Paul Pottenger, former teacher in the public schools of Lamar, MO; East Moline, IL and Carthage, MO and former Professor of Music at Southwest Baptist University (Bolivar), U. S. International University (San Diego, CA), Bradley University (Peoria, IL) and Dallas Baptist University; her daughters, Diane Elizabeth (Pottenger) Watson, wife of David Lynn Watson of Duncanville, TX, and Veneta Kathleen (Pottenger) Herman, wife of Kenneth Ray Herman, Jr. of Silver Spring, MD; her granddaughters, Rachel Leigh and Jessie Nicole Watson of Duncanville; her uncle and aunt, Kenneth Arthur & Faye (Blackwell) Breshears of Lancaster, TX; her aunt, Orlena Mable (Breshears) Woodruff of Bakersfield, CA; and her aunt Helen (Cunningham) Breshears, wife of the late Voyne Leland Breshears of Bolivar.

Among other surviving relatives are Janet (Breshears) and Darwin Thomas of Duncanville; Bill and Pearlene Breshears of Bolivar; Ruth Irene (Pottenger) Malouff of Springfield, MO and Ruby Christine (Pottenger) Cline of Monett, MO. She was a graduate of Bolivar High School in 1953; of Southwest Baptist College in 1955; where she was elected Mozarkian Queen and received the Life Beautiful Award; and of Southwest Missouri State College in Springfield, MO.

She served as Church Secretary of the First Baptist Church of Aurora, MO, the First Baptist Church of Lamar, MO; and was a teacher and student supervisor in the Child Development Center of Bradley University. From 1984 to the time of her death, she was employed as a sales associate at Wal-Mart in DeSoto and was a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.

Services of Remembrance will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday April 29, 1994 at Ellis Chapel of Park Cities Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Royal officiating, assisted by Rev. Clyde Bizzell, under the direction of Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home of Dallas, where the body will lie-in-state on Friday, April 29, 1994. And services at the First Baptist Church in Bolivar at 1:00 PM Monday May 2, 1994, Rev. Jesse Cuningham officiating, assisted by Rev. Ray Leininger, with interment at 3:00 PM at the National Cemetery in Springfield, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, where her body will lie-in-state from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, May 1, 1994.
