JESSE WILLIAM HOUSE

Jesse William House, 79, of Bolivar, died at 11:20 AM Sunday, July 31, at the Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar after a long Illness.

Mr. House was a lifelong resident of Polk County and was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Bolivar. He was a retired teacher and was a past president of the Polk County Retired Teachers Association.

He served as Circuit Clerk and Recorder of Deeds from 1931 - 1939 and he and his wife managed the school lunch program of the Bolivar School System for 19 years, until his retirement in 1974. He was a graduate of Southwest Baptist University.

Surviving is his wife Lela of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Patsy Lou Pottenger of Bolivar and Mrs. Willodean Gullet of St. Clair; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Lemkull of Oakdale, Calif., and Mrs. Nettie LaBrot of Santa Paula, Calif., one brother, Elvert House of Granby and two granddaughters.

Services were Tuesday Aug. 2, at 10AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mark Brister officiating. Burial was in the Payne Cemetery north of Polk.

Music was provided by David Watson as soloist and Dr. William Brown as pianist. Casket bearers were Bill Breshears, Bill Roberts Jr., Ernie DeGraffenreid, Claud Mustain, Tom Padgett and Bernard Watkins. Honorary bearers were Harley Arnold, E. A. Stokes, Loren Murray, Howard Hayter, Howard Harris and Hubert Borgstadt. Burial was under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Citizens Memorial Hospital or the First Baptist Church.
