M A Carter, Jr., 59, of 107 Oak Lane, Houston died Sunday, March 9 at the Houston Medical Center. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11 at the Houston Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Houston Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Bailey officiated.

Mr. Carter was born in Chickasaw County, the son of M A Carter, Sr and Mary Hugh Peden Carter. He was a retired lieutenant colonel and served 24 years with the United States Air Force and was a veteran of WW II. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by United Industries, Inc. He was a member of the Friendship Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Martha Whittle Carter of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Carroll Brumfield of Jackson, Tn.; and Miss Carron Carter of Jackson; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Thomas and Mrs. Esther Ashley, both of Houston and a brother, Hugh Thomas Carter of Okolona.

Serving as pallbearers were Mike Griffin, Tommy Carter, Robert Parrish, Carroll Parks, Terry Smith and Danny K Thomas.
