Okolona - Hugh Thomas Carter, 82, died Saturday, Nov 1, 1997 at his residence in Okolona following an extended illness. He was born May 31 1915 in Chickasaw County to the late Morris Alma Carter and Mary Hugh Peden Carter.
Mr. Carter was employed for over 30 years at the Kraft Foods Cheese Plant. He worked between 1960-77 at the plant in Greenville, Tn.
He was a member of the Okolona Presbyterian Church where he was an honorary elder. He enjoyed gardening, farming and fishing.
Services were held Monday, Nov 3 from the Chapel of Okolona Funeral Home with Rev. Jennifer Johnson and Rev. Sandra Sisson officiating. Burial followed in Oddfellows Cemetery. Lee Memorial/Okolona Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
He is preceded in death by his only son, Thomas M. Carter in 1986 and by three siblings.
