Lewis B. Akers, the son of Lincoln and Mary B. Harris Akers, was born south of Exira, Iowa and died at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 14 days.

He grew up on the farm where he was born and attended school near there. He played with his brothers in a musical group for several years.

On November 7, 1934 he married Leona M. Nielsen in Audubon. Tthey farmed near Exira and for 36 years farmed their own farm south of Exira. In 1980 they moved to their home in Exira. He drove a school bus for the Exira Schools for 17 years, was school janitor and also worked at the Super Value store in Exira.

Preceding him in death were his parents; 6 brothers: Otto, Trilby, Frank, Alvie, Byron, and Robert Akers; and 3 sisters: Laura Stager, Cleo Brown, and Sylvia Akers. .
