Byron J., son of Link and Mary Harris Akers, was born March 30, 1898 in Brayton, Iowa and passed away September 17, 1979 at the Cass County Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.
After attending country school in Audubon County he moved with his family to Guthrie County for a short while, moving back to Audubon County where he was engaged in farming. He would farm during the summer months, then move to California for the winter. For the past nine years he has resided in Menlo, Iowa.
He served his country in the Armed forces during World War II. Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Otto, Trilby, Frank, and Robert, and two sisters, Laura and Sylvia who died in infancy.
Surviving are three brothers, Harold and Lewis of Exira, Iowa and Alvie of Oakfield, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Schwarting of Exira, Iowa, Mrs. Clyde (Coral ) Heck of Oakview, California, Mrs. Winona Kesselring of Ventura, California and Mrs. Cleo Brown of Electric City, Washington; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
