Albert left home in 1881 to go west. He first located in New Mexico where he was a cowboy for 10 years. Albert married Jessie Ann Hunter in Kansas on March 2,1890. They moved to Kansas for six years, then to central California for eight years, then to Southern California. For several years he managed a ranch. He was well traveled, being to 35 states and to Mexico, Canada, and Cuba.
They had three children: Donna Lenore (Gauntlett), Helen Evelyn (Hayes), and LaRue Barbara (Smith).
