Rufus Emmet Leake was the son of Isabell Margaret Bellis and Walter Scott Leake of Ray County Missouri. His siblings were: George Washington, Albert Adolphus, Samuel Walter, Minnie Cordelia (Farris-Miller), Mary Jane (Penniston), Florence Emma, Gustavus Leonadus and Otha Monroe.
The Leake family originally comes from England, settling in Goochland County, Virginia. This line of the family settled in Virginia before 1690, in Kentucky before 1790, and Missouri before 1840.
Rufus did not marry or have children. He died of of heart issues at age 54.
