Cookeville Funeral services for Ernest Haywood Allison, 78, of Baxter, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday May 25, from the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Allison Cemetery.
Mr. Allison died on Tuesday May23, 2000, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 8, 1921, in Putnam County to the late William Luther and Dovie Martin Allison. Mr. Allison was a farmer and a member of Ozion Free Will baptist Church and also served as deacon. He was a World War II veteran.
His family includes his wife, Lorene Asburn Allison of Baxter; a son and daughterinlaw, Ernest and Janice Allison of Cookeville; a daughter and a soninlaw, Faye and Dennis Burgess of Cookeville; two brothers, Vermal Allison of Michigan, and Bill Allison of Doyle; three sisters, Berchie Allison of Baxter, Willene Allison of Cookeville, and Lou Ann Guy of Michigan; three grandchildren, Jeffery Allison and his wife Amy, James Allison and Elizabeth Burgess; and two great grandchildren, Aksel and Zeb Allison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers.
Pallbearers will be H.O., Bobby, Jeff and James Allison, and Larry and Don Goff.
Bro. Frank Davis will officiate at the services.

There are now 2 Great-grandchildren. I am Mr. Allison's daughter, Anna Faye Allison Burgess. My daughter's married name is Elizabeth Burgess Centers. She has two children, my grandchildren - their names are Ella Kate Centers and Graham Michael Centers.
