John J. Hanks, 68, retired farmer died at 4:30 a.m., Saturday in his home at 2045 Roosevelt avenue after a six days illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday in the Moran and Sons funeral home.
Mr. Hanks was born Feb. 16, 1869 near Maroa and had lived near Decatur all his life. He retired several years ago. His wife died in 1913.
He leaves a son John D. Hanks of Decatur, and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Hatfield, of Peoria; a stepson, Burlyn Jones; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Caroline Pompellia, both of St. Louis; and a brother, S. J. Hanks who lives near Decatur.
