Former Smoot Woman Dies at Oakland
May Henderson Kingston, 37, former Smoot resident succumbed at Oakland California last Friday March 27 from a stroke.
Services were held in Oakland at the Robinson Brothers Mortuary under the suspices of the Claremont LDS Ward, Services will be held in Smoot today at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of the Smoot bishopric. Burial will be in the Afton Cemetery.
May Leone Henderson was born May 18, 1915 at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs T,W, Henderson, between Osmond and Smoot. She lived most of the life in Star Valley and attended Star Valley schools. In November 1944 she moved to California with her husband and has resided there since.
On September 30, 1935, she married John D. Kingston in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Two children were born to them, Larry G. Henderson 1 and Meldon K. Henderson 10.
Besides her husband and children she is survived by her father T.W. Henderson, Salt Lake City and the following brother and sisters: Dewey Henderson, Rock Springs; Carl Henderson Worland; Mrs Roy Davis Huston, Texas Mrs Roy McCombs, Ogden; Leslie Henderson U.S. Army; Mrs b.W. Baird Afton and Leoyce Henderson Logan.
Mrs Kingston was always active in the LDS church. She taught Sunday School when she was 16 years old, and served in the YMMIA presidency of the Smoot Ward. She worked with the Girls Correlation Committee in her ward in Oakland and was president of the ward Primary association at the time of her death.
