After a lingering illness of five months, Mrs Wallace Henderson of Smoot passed away in the L D S hospital at Salt Lake City, Utah on December 5th 1943.
Mrs Henderson became ill on the first day of July. At that time it was discovered she was suffering from a stomach ulcer. The ulcer caused a hemorrhage and she became very weak from the loss of blood. After being treated at the hospital in Afton, she was taken to the clinic at Salt Lake City. She was X-rayed and at that time the ulcers were found to be almost healed. Mrs Henderson returned home and it seemed she had taken a slight cold. She was then treated for bronchitis. Her condition continued to grow worse. She was X-rayed and her lungs were found to be in a serious condition. The X-ray was sent to Basin Wyo Her case was then taken to the Sanatorium at Ogden, Utah. After being carefully observed for one month, it was found she did not have tuberculosis. It was discovered that she had a very rare, but non-contagious disease, Fungi of the lungs caused by a bacteria that is breathed from plant life. She was then taken to the L.D.S. hospital in Salt Lake City. There she was placed under the care of the best doctors available and all was done that possibly could be done, but her condition grew steadily worse, and she passed away at 1:00 p. m. on December 5, 1943.
All her children were at her bedside.

Two sons, Dewey and Carl, and four daughters, Mae Kingston, Millie Henderson, Mable Baird and Bessie Davis are married and have separate homes. Two daughters and one son are still at home, Eva 13, Lelsie 11, and Leoyce 9.
