Carl William Henderson, 78, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, surrounded by his family at his home in Osmond.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11, 2002, at the Osmond Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Afton Cemetery.
Carl was born Oct 15, 1923 in Smoot, the sixth of 10 children of Thomas Wallace and Katerine Stumpp Henderson.
Carl spent his early years helping his father run the family farm. On July 25, 1941, he married his eternal sweetheart, Lorna Hoopes in the Logan Utah Temple. Carl and Lorna purchased half of the family farm and remained in Star Valley until health problems required him to leave farming in 1953.
At that time he began working for Frontier Airlines. Most of his carer involved managing Frontier stations and took his family to Worland, Cody and Riverton, WY and Colorado Springs CO. Soon after retiring in 1985, Carl and Lorna were happy to return to Star Valley. For the first 13 years they enjoyed spending winters in St. George.
Carl was a faithful member of the LDS Church. Among his many callings were: counselor in the bishopric, stake high council, stake missionary, decons quorum advisor, Sunday school presidency and Cubmaster. Many benefited form his quiet acts of service. He served as president of the Cody City Council. He enjoyed carpentry and built four homes. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and in his later years watching Jazz basketball games,
Carl and Lorna are the devoted parents of six children; Carla Rae Bratton, deceased; Layne Carl, deceased; Don of Henderson NV; Joyce Fuller of South Jordan, UT, Rex of Camarillo CA and Ron of Glenwood Springs CO; grandparents of 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters; Dewey Ogden; Bessie Davis, Memphis TN; Eva McCombs, Merced, CA; Leslie Rock Springs; Leoyce Broadbent, Kent, WA.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; May Kingston, Millie Henderson and Mable Baird.
