Hinesburg -- Arthur Emmons, 90, died Monday evening at the Truax Nursing Home after a long illness. He had lived in Hinesburg all of his life where he was a carpenter for many years. He was born in Hinesburg May 16, 1888, son of Orrin and Ella (White) Emmons. Mr. Emmons wife, Margaret (Myers) Emmons died in May 1971. He leaves five sons, Howard of Bristol, Clark and Forest, both of Hinesburg, Arthur Jr, of South Burlington and Raymond of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Bert (Ruby) Stokes of Berlin; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the United Church in Hinesburg. Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tonight at the Gifford Funeral Home in Richmond. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to Hinesburg First Response Squad, c/o Clark Emmons, Hinesburg.
