MRS. MARTHA SHAW SUCCUMBS SUNDAY
Former Newton Resident Dies After Three Weeks Illness.

Mrs. Martha E. Shaw, 58 for thirty years a citizen of Jackson, residing at 1405 South Gallatin Street, Jackson, died Sunday morning at 9 :30 o'clock at the family home after an illness of three weeks.

Mrs. Shaw, who was a faithful member of the Central Presbyterian church leaves a large number of friends accumulated during her lifetime who are deeply grieved because of the death of this beloved character.

Survivors are: her sorrowing husband, John C. Shaw, one son, Clarence E. Shaw, Jackson; two daughters, Miss Juanita Shaw, Jackson and Mrs. R. L. Russum of Kentwood, La., five sisters, Mrs. A. M. Ames, Jackson; Mrs. Walton Thompson, Meridian; Mrs. Lizzie Maynard, Newton; Mrs. Katie Owens, Tuscumbia, Ala.; and Mrs. Maude Hale, Aberdeen ; two brothers, J. E. Thompson, Decatur and Carl Thompson, Newton.

A short service was held from the family residence Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock with the Rev. R. E. Hough, pastor of the Central Presbyterian church, conducting the obsequies. Final rites were held in Presbyterian church in Newton Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock with interment in the Newton cemetery.
