Robert married 25 June 1818, Nancy Wyatt and made his home in Maury Co., TN, where his descendants live today. Robert died 3 May 1877 -- Nancy died 15 March 1873. Both are buried in Jackson's Bend Cemetery in Maury Co.

Robert was born in Virginia, but settled in Maury County, Tennessee and created a successful plantation. Robert made his Will in 1869, before moving his son Richard, and his family in with him. The property was broken up between siblings, however, Robert’s son Nathaniel, requested that his share be given to his brother Richard, and used for the care and upkeep of his parents. In 1860, the property was valued at around $19,000, but after the Will was made, by 1870, while living with the family of his son Richard, the value had shrank to $4,500. We can only speculate Nathaniel’s reason for giving up his share of the property that was split between six siblings, but a story is hiding there for sure. Robert’s wife Nancy lived until 1873 and Robert went on to live more than 7 years after his Will was made.
