The publication "The History of Versailles, Tenth District, and its People" states, "Nathan Jackson, 6th son of Francis and Elizabeth Woosman Childress Jackson was born in Virginia, 11 Jan., 1801. Family records reveal he lived with his family adjacent to Town Creek in Rockingman Co. NC from 1803 to 1811, he came with his family to the plantation near Versailles, Tn. On 29 Nov., 1827, Nathan Jackson and Indiana Windrow were married. They made their home on part of the Jackson land which lay between Jackson Ridge and Little Rock on what is known today (1981) as the Charles McLain place."
In her journal, Sammie Clark Sims, his grand daughter, wrote, "Now, the Jacksons - They too were farm people, but very well to do. My great grandfather Nathan Jackson was at one time owner of more than one thousand acres of excellent farm lands and a slave owner before the Civil War. He had a very large family and deeded land to each of his children as they grew up and were married."
Nathan Jackson married Indiana Windrow Jackson on 15 Nov 1827. According to the source "Eagleville," by Bobbie Sue Shelton, they had eleven children:

- 1870 for Rutherford Co. with spouse and three children and a black servant child, Martha Jackson, occupation farmer
- 1880 for Rutherford Co. with spouse and grand-daughter, Anna (her mother, Annie Jackson Fain, had died), occupation farmer
