Wesley Mote died at his home in Laketon Monday evening at the age of 83 years to the day. His death was due largely to a general falling of health on account of old age. Mr. Mote had been a resident of Laketon for 32 years having come there from Parke county, Indiana. He had also lived in Danville, Illinois, in 1850, Coles county in 1860, Muncie area in 1870 and later to Laketon. He was well respected by all the people of the community as an upright citizen. Married Martha Ann Hudson on March 15, 1847. He leaves an aged wife, two sons and three daughters and other relatives.
Two sons being Riley and Alonzo, three daughters being Louisa, Lavina, Rosa.

Funeral took place Wednesday afternoon at the Christian Church conducted by Rev. Hill. Burial in the cemetery south of town. (Old section of Laketon Cemetery).
They raised Henry Mote, their grandson, buried in Pearson Cemetery, Huntington,IN. Henrys' mother, Emma, died when he was age 2, and his father Elam was killed in a train accident. (News-Journal Feb. 11, 1935) info by Roger Price
