Laketon-Mrs. Martha Ann (Hudson) Mote, an aged widow lady who has lived many years at Laketon, died Monday at the home of her son in law, Isaiah Pearson, near that town. The cause of her death being paralysis. She was 83 years of age and leaves three grown children and a great many friends as she was a highly respected woman by all who knew her. The funeral was held Wednesday conducted by Rev. Miner, assisted by Rev. Brown. Her husband Wesley is deceased.

Martha Mote, one of the oldest residents here died Monday Morning after a long illness, having been afflicted for many years, and being partly paralyzed, and having lost her sight several years ago. She was a very patient sufferer until death came to her relief. She was buried yesterday in Laketon cemetery, by the side of her husband, Wesley Mote, who passed away several years ago. Martha was born in the state of Kentucky, Nov. 20, 1829 and was united in marriage Mar. 15, 1847. She states "at the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 2 days'. She came to this state at the age of 4 in the year 1833. There was born to this union , nine children, of which, five are living to mourn and 4 have preceded her to the spirit world. She was baptised in a school house at age 25 and lived a christian life. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church. We thank everybody for concern and kindness to our dear Mother.
