Thomas F. Burton, 92, one of Star Valley's oldest pioneers, and a resident of Afton all of his life until the last two years, died at hi home in Ogden, Utah Monday April 8 1963 at about 6 p.m. Old age and a partial stroke several years ago were the causes of his death.
The Burtons moved to Ogden two years ago to be near some of their family members and to reside in a milder climate.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 12 at 2 p.m. in the Afton First Ward Chapel under the direction of the First Ward Bishopric. Burial will be in the Afton Cemetery.
The body will be in the relief society room of the First Ward Church from 11:30 a.m. until funeral time where friends may call.

Burial was in the Afton Cemetery, under the direction of the Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
A telegram expressing sympathy received by his family from David O. McKay, president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was read at the services.
Thomas Fielding Burton eldest son of Sarah Ann Fielding and William W. Burton, was born May 12, 1871 at Ogden, weber County, Utah, where he spent the first 10 years of his life. He cared for the family garden, milked the cows, drove the delivery team for his father's mercantile and implement store, and attended the Ogden Central School
While he was at work in the fields or after he had retired to rest at night, He was inspired by the beauties of nature which he loved, and often expressed this while at work.
Some of his poems which were written for special occasions were set to music. One of his original compositions won first prize in a Star Valley Stake Music Festival (this award was for both works and music). He was the first organist in the Afton LDS Ward
