Married Burrell C. Black June 11, 1906 in Carroll County, Indiana. Two this union four children were born, Donald, Gladys, Ruby and Hazel. Catherine married Lawrence Sandstrom after 1916. They did not have any children together. Catherine was a member of the Rockford Chapter 53, of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include one son, Donald (Jane) Black, Rockford; two daughters, Mrs. Ruby (Homer) Stanger and Mrs. Hazel (Jack) Malone, Alhambra, California; two grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Lucy Wheelock, North Park, Illinois and a brother, Charles Margason, Rockford.
