Donald C. Black, 85, Rockford, died at 3:36 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 1993, in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, Illinois, following a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 9, 1907, in Rockford, son of Burrell C. and Malissa Lee Margason Black. Life long Rockford resident. Married Jane Greenlee in Rockton, Illinois, Sept. 19, 1956; she died in Rockford in April 1981. Retired in 1969 as truck messenger for Rockford Board of Education after 28 years. Member and past master of Masonic Star in the East Lodge 166. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Newton, Forsyth, Mo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Hazel Malone, Pasadena, California; one nephew. Also predeceased by parents and two sisters. Graveside funreal services at 1 p.m. Wed., Feb. 24, in Greenwood Cemetery. No visitation. Memorial astablished for American Heart Association.
