Mrs. Vernie Nile Abbott, 102, of Cottonwood Point, died June 20, 1994 at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. Born October 30, 1891 in Marmaduke, AR she was the daughter of William and Vanta Nicholson Potter. She attended Chute 16 school and was a member of the cottowood Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Joe Abbott of Caruthersville; a daughter, Ida Mae Clark of Cottonwood Point; a daughter-in-law, Morine Abbott of Cottonwood Point; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse David Abbott and a son, James Edward Abbott.
Services were June 22 at 2:30 PM at Cottonwood Point Baptist Church, the Rev. Adrain Knipper officiating, with burial in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens. H. S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge.
Pallbearers were Dorcie Clark, Don, Mike and Brian Abbott, Dave Jean and Kevin Knipper.
