Services for Malvin D. Abbott were held Feb. 21, at the Cottonwood Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Van Ravenswaag officiating. Mr. Abbott died in a Memphis hospital February 19, 1881 at the age of 65. He was a retired riverboat cook.
Mr. Alexander was born in Cottonwood Point on July 27, 1915 to the late J.M. and Vanta Lena (Nickleson) Abbott. He attended the Cottonwood Point School and was a member of the Cottonwood Point Baptist Church.
Surviving him are a brother John of Caruthersville; a sister, Mrs. Vernie Potter Abbott, and six nephews and seven nieces.
Interment was in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville with the H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville in charge.
