Emery F. Allen, age 79, of Hillsboro Rt. 1, died at 7:20 am Thursday, May 27, at his home. He had been in failing health the past year and was seriously ill two weeks.

Mr. Allen was born in Parke County, Aug 18, 1886, the son of Cornelius and Harriet Sowers Allen. He married Mavis Henley and she preceded him in death in 1952. He was educated in Parke County and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include: four sons, Cyril of Crawfordsville, Cliston of Wingate, Clifford of Torrence, Calif., and Kenneth of Veedersburg; four daughters, Miss Thelma Allen of Indianapolis, Mrs. Violet Miller of Bethesda, Md., Mrs. Ruth Pansel of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Norma Wilson of Hillsboro; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Viola Gooding of Wallace and Mrs. Icle Shelton of Crawfordsville. He was preceded in death by two children, two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. The Rev. Ronald Caralson of Chicago officiated and burial was in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
