Charles F. Evans, 71, 116 North Highland, died in the Veterans' Hospital, Wadsworth, Kansas, at 5:05 o'clock Monday afternoon. He had been ill fifteen years and had been in the hospital one month.
A retired carpenter, Evans was born December 19, 1874, in Clark County, Illinois. He came to Pittsburg in 1921 from Columbus.
He served with the Twenty-second Kansas Regiment in the Spanish-American War. Membership was held with the Spanish-American War Veterans in Pittsburg.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Sarah May Evans of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Thelma Scroggins, Girard; Mrs. Pauline Davis, Kansas City; Mrs. Susan Ports, ___ North Highland; and Mrs. Dorothy Davidson, 1501 South Elm; five sons, Michael Evans, 709 West Sixth; Glenn Evans, Sacramento, California; Harold Evans, 116 North Highland; Willard Evans, 101 West Twenty-fourth and Joseph Evans, Cambridge, Massachusetts; one sister, Mrs. R. D. Elliott, Topeka; one brother, William Evans, Kanopolis, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body was to be brought to the Brenner Chapel sometime today.
