Thelma E. Scroggins, 91, died Saturday, July 31, 1993, at her home in Girard. She had been in ill health for three years.
She was born December 5, 1901, at Turk, in Cherokee County, the daughter of Charles Fletcher and Sarah May Lewis Evans.
Mrs. Scroggins grew up in Columbus and attended Columbus High School. She graduated from the Pittsburg Business College.
She married Larry Virgil Scroggins September 14, 1920. He preceded her in death in 1930.
She then moved to Girard, where she worked in the Farm and Home Administration office for 30 years. She worked as secretary there and later was secretary in the Vern Grassi Law Office in Girard.
Survivors include two sons, Stanley Scroggins of Girard and Charles Scroggins of Pittsburg; one daughter, Billie Kelly of West Sacramento, California; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
