James L. Barber, 46, a native of Ransom, passed away Wednesday, December 21, at the home in Sublette where he had lived the past year, after moving there from Dodge City in January of 1960. He was an employee of the Peoples Natural Gas company.
Funeral services were held from the Ransom church of Christ on Saturday morning, December 24, conducted by R.H. McDaniel of Hays. Interment was in the Ransom cemetery. Survivors include: The widow, Mrs. Orphene Barber of Sublette; two daughters, Crystal and Mary of the home; a son, James of the home; the father, A.H. Barber of Ransom; four sisters, Mrs. Blanch Meisner of Fontana, Calif., Mrs. Marie Paris of Pratt, Mrs. Edith Randall and Hazel Barber, both of Ransom; three brothers, Henry Barber of Moulton, Iowa, Russell and Bud of Ransom; a host of other relatives and friends.
