LASTRUP -- Edith Sporlein Tretter, 85, Lastrup, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at home.

She was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Agram Township, to Joseph and Barbara (Lochner) Gruber. She married Joseph Sporlein on April 3, 1937. They lived in Chicago. He died June 21, 1951. She moved to Lastrup in 1953. She married Philip Tretter on Oct. 11, 1954. She was a member of the Christian Mothers.

Survivors include her husband, two daughters, Carol Bell, Pierz, and Arlene Smude, Pierz; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Simon Gruber, Merrifield; and two sisters, Eleanor Kasper, Pierz, and Caroline Sadlowsky, Upsala.

Her first husband, five brothers, Wilfred, Alphonse, Herb, Carl and Urban Gruber, and three sisters, Lucy Dietz, Cresence Meidl and Esther Langer, died earlier.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church of Lastrup with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Parish Cemetery.

Friends may call at Brenny Funeral Home of Pierz from 4-9 p.m. today, with Christian Mothers praying the rosary at 7 p.m. and parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday.
