His father is possibly Theodore Dorei, as recorded in his brother Herman Dorei's parish census record. Robert gave his mother's name as Martha Marks in 1894. Her maiden name as reported on Robert's death certificate was Martha Kahler. The sister mentioned in the obit as Anna Miller had remarried by the time of her death and was buried as
Hannah Smith in Peoria, Illinois. He had another brother Frederick Dorei who died in Peru, Illinois a short time after the civil war.

Robert Dorei was born in Germany Dec 8, 1840. He died at the home of his sister Anna Miller in Peoria, Ilinois. He died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, Nov 13, 1916 as he was waiting for a streetcar. He was aged 75 years, 11 months and 5 days. The obit says "His marriage to Miss Katherine Trompeter occurred at an early age in Germany and they came to America, living at first near Peru, Illinois and later filling the ranks of the early Kansas settlers." Upon reaching Kansas they homesteaded 1 1/2 miles north of Mercier (Germantown in 1916). Catherine died in 1883. Ten children were born to them, eight of whom survived Robert. They are: Leonard Dorei and Oda Schuetz of Germantown; Fred Dorei of Hamlin; Charles Dorie of Topeka; Henry Dorei and Frank Dorie of Horton; William Dorei, Montana; and Kathryn Cummings of Pratt, Kansas. The body was brought to Germantown Thursday and the funeral service was held at St Peter's Catholic church.
