Fred, who was also known as F.R. Dorei, farmed for many years on a farm north of Hamlin, Kansas. He died September 26, 1939 at home in his sleep. He had been in poor heath for several years. He was the son of Robert and Anna Catharina Trompeter Dorei. He was born in Peru, Illinois October 15, 1865. He lived there with his family until he was 8 years old, when they moved to Brown County, Kansas and settled in the Richland township near Mercier, Kansas. He married Elizabeth Hayes in Hiawatha, Kansas Feb. 17, 1886. He was baptised in the Catholic church. After his marriage he was a member of the Reserve Methodist church, and later the Hamlin Brethren Church. He was a Mason and also belonged to the Odd Fellows Lodge.
His survivors were his wife Elizabeth Hayes Dorei, and 2 children; Florence (Mrs. Charles) Hern of Hiawatha; and Murlin S. Dorei of White Cloud; 4 brothers; Leonard and Henry of Mercier; Frank of Horton; William of California; 2 sisters; Kathryn (Mrs. A.G.) Cumings of Pratt, KS and Oda (Mrs. Ed) Schuetz of Powhattan. Fred was a musician and band leader of the Reserve and Morrill bands in his younger years. He also played violin for various events. He was buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.
