Henry Edward "Hank" Schoenberg

Henry "Hank" Schoenberg was born on August 5, 1919 in Spring Hill Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. Henry was the eight of 11 children born to Charles and Mary (Pung) Schoenberg.

On August 30, 1949, at the age of 30 years, Henry married Lillian Gerding in Elrosa, Minn. The couple moved to Spring Hill where they took over the operation of the Schoenberg family farm from Hank's parents. The farm is located in Sections 9 & 10 of Spring Hill Township - east of Hwy 4 - approximately 2 miles north of the village of Spring Hill, Minn.

Hank & Lillian Schoenberg are the parents of six children:

- Daniel
- Lois
- James
- Nancy
- Cindy
- Brian

Hank & Lillian remained on the farm until the mid 1980s when they retired & moved to Greenwald, MN. Their son, Jim W. Schoenberg and his wife, Darlene, took over the operation of the family farm.

Hank Schoenberg died on November 6, 1994 in St. Cloud, MN. He is buried in St. Andrew's Cemetery in Greenwald - in the 2nd row from the west cemetery border. Hank's older brother, Edmund & his wife Christine, are buried nearby in the 3rd row.

Hank is survived by his wife, Lillian, three sons Dan, Jim and Brian Schoenberg, three daughters Lois Dorschner, Nancy Zschunke, and Cindy Altendahl; eight siblings Lena Nuebauer, Edmund Schoenberg, Erma Athman, Joseph Schoenberg, Arthur Schoenberg, Mary Muehe, Apollonia (Bunny) Troje and Alice Williams.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Mary (Dec 1970) and Charles (Jan 1971) Schoenberg, and sisters Armella Gerding (1982) and Dorothy Benolken (1968).

NOTE: In February 1917, Charles Schoenberg's younger brother, Heinrich "Henry" Schoenberg, died from of an appendicitis. He was 18 years old and attending high school in Melrose, Minn.

Charles & Mary Schoenberg wanted to name their next child after Charles' deceased brother. However their next child, born November 1917, was a girl. They named that child Appolonia "Bunny" Schoenberg after Charles' sister.

On August 5, 1919, the couple's next child was born - a baby boy. They baptised him "Henry Schoenberg" to honor his deceased uncle.
