OBITUARY FROM THE POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE: Hickman Services
LEGGETT(ES) - Funeral services were held Sunday for John Robert Hickman, 80, of Leggett from the Chapel of the Pace Funeral Home with the Rev. Horace Keene officiating. Interment took place in the Rice Cemetery near Leggett. Mr. Hickman died July 20 in the Polk County Hospital. Mr. Hickman was born September 14, 1892, the son of Nathaniel Richard Hickman and Elizabeth Hickman near Hortense. He attended public school in the Hortense community and in 1921 he married Mary Bell Martone. Mr. Hickman was engaged in farming for most of his life and was a member of the Jones Prairie Baptist Church in Leggett. Survivors include his wife; one son, Clenzon S. Hickman of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Mable Pearson of Seabrook; one brother, Nathaniel R. Hickman of Leggett; one sister, Mrs. Lou Bonetti of Channelview; and 4 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Knoll Hickman, Jack O'Neil, W. B. Galloway, Orvil Chandler, Horace Beaty, and Harold Barrington.
