She was the daughter of Charles Wallace Nichols and Nora Ruth (Raiburn) Nichols. She attended school in Harpers Valley and Kiowa. She married Steve Shields on July 27, 1942, in Atoka and was a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of Harpers Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Nichols; sisters, Maybelle Hatridge, Thelma Kelley, Rosezina Barnes, Irene Adams, Cedelle Williams, and Francille Guy; brothers, Chick Nichols, and Royce Nichols, and granddaughter, Teresa Lynn Shields. Funeral services were at Aug. 12, at Kiowa Baptist Church with Craig Cochran officiating. Burial was at Harpers Valley Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Atoka.
