CLEAR FORK - Phillip William Conley, 69, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1987 at a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Jan. 3, 1918, at Sun Hill, he was a son of the late Dee William Conley and Nellie K. Bowden Conley.
He was never married.
Mr. Conley was a lifelong resident of Wyoming County, a former employee of the Wyoming County School Board, a coal miner, and a WWII U.S. Army veteran enlisting on April 28, 1942 at Huntington West, Va. and released Jan. 1, 1944.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; Andrew T. "Andy", Sterling S., Giles Conley all of Wyoming County and Billy of Texas. Also a halfbrother, Edwin Eual Acord of Ohio.
Survivors include a brother; Jesse R. Conley of Florida and four sisters; Dulcie M. Hill of Clear Fork, Nita M. Cline and Dolly Ray Brunty, both of Lynco, and Eileen J. Hazel of North Augusta, S.C.
Services will be Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Evans Memorial Chapel in Oceana with the Revs. David Price and Hannibal Blankenship Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny, WV.
Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
