Alex served in the US Army as a pharmacist TEC5 from April 1946 to October 1947. He was stationed in Hawaii. He lived with his parents and brothers in Bergen and Hudson counties of New Jersey. His civilian occupation was draftsman. He was a very studious and serious type person. Alex put aside his career to care for his elderly mother in the years prior to her death in 1975.
His early death at age 52 was the result of an apparent Halloween prank. Alex had gone shopping and upon his return home, boys threw eggs at the family's first floor apartment window, which faced Washington Square in Jersey City. Alex went out and chased them down the street. He fell and hit his head. The Coroner said his death was caused by a massive heart attack. The boys were never apprehended and Halloween was forever ruined for several family members. Alex's eldest brother Joseph refused thereafter to recognize the Halloween tradition. His sister Mary passed away on October 31st twenty years later.
