Charles Dowty was born in Claremont, Richland County, Illinois to Abraham Dowty and Mary Ann Abbuhl. Mr Dowty farmed in Buena Vista and the Waukesha area until his retirement six years ago. He died at his home in Bancroft, Portage County, Wisconsin. He married Dora Alice Lankford on August 27, 1903 in Sandborn, Knox County, Indiana. They had six children: Charles Piley,and Thomas Henry Dowty, Leona Buege McGinley, Walter Albert Dowty, Dalza Meronk Adams, Fern Evelyn Firkus; two brothers John Dowty of Oklahoma City and Albert of Olney, ILL; and 20 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
